What’s on in the weekend of 26/08 – 28/08

The Olympics may be over, but Rio never sleeps. Check out how many cool things are going on here this weekend!

FRIDAY (26/08)

1. MAR de Música gets the show Jaloo and the presentation of Minha Luz é de LED block is one of the alternative carnival blocos in Rio. According to the official text in the event, the block’s repertoire goes from tecnobrega, through axé Daniela Mercury to the electronic Daft Punk. And it is really close to the Olympic Boulevard in Mauá Square, so you can go there before or after.
Just note that is an early party, from 06:00pm to 10:00pm, and is subject to capacity. The previous events in this place that I’ve been, it was a bit packed.
How much? For free, like all the best things in life. <3
Where? Rio Art Museum (MAR). Praça Mauá, 5 – Centro (Downtown)
2. Sotaque Carregado Festival in Tiradentes Square.
The third day of Sotaque Carregado Festival opens with Disritmia Party and the band Novíssimos at 5:00pm, continues with Agytoê at 08:00pm and closes with DJ MAM.
Agytoê is a carnival bloco very lively and exotic. Put on some glitter and be happy!
How much? Magic word: for free.
Where? Centro de Referência do Artesanato Brasileiro (Crab): Praça Tiradentes, 71 – Centro (Downtown)
OK, but then what? Look at the number 3, which is right next to it 😉
3. Brazilian Wax / Kode / Just Follow the Beat in Boiler

boiler
Just by looking at this picture is already possible to understand why the Boiler, nightclub just opened in June of this year, it is already conquering its space in Rio. This outdoor terrace is very nice and is only one of the three environments of the house, which have a scenic installation with more than 1.6 million LED points.
Each party will take over one floor and from what I’ve researched, the three are electronic music, and deep house.
Cool, but it must be expensive, right? Hmmm, no!
FREE up to 01h00min with names on the Facebook event wall.
R$20,00 to 02h00min
R$30.00 after 02h00min
No name on the list R$ 50.00
NOTE: Friend advice: arrive early if you want to get in for free, because on the last party I’ve heard they held quite the queue to avoid many people getting in for free. 🙁
4. Forró de Santa at Circo Voador

Forró is a typical genre of Brazilian music, more for dancing together in couples.

Samba dos Guimarães is already a classic of Saturdays in Rio, as we needed a reason to go visit the most charming neighborhood of Rio.

The best way to get there is by going to the subway station of Glória and from there take a taxi/Uber to Santa Teresa.
